Hoshoryu injured the back of his right thigh during his Day 1 bout against Komusubi Takayasu (Taganoura stable). Although the results of the detailed examination conducted on the 11th have not yet been released, the master explained, “Based on what I saw on the images, the muscle doesn’t appear to be torn. It seems to be a mild strain.”

Looking ahead to the retirement tournament on the 30th and 31st after the current basho, as well as the Paris event in June, Tatsunami Oyakata stated, “I think he can participate,” and regarding the yokozuna’s ring-entering ceremony (dohyo-iri), he added, “It should be fine.”
