Hanshin Tigers infielder Teruaki Sato (27) received the “Daisei Life Monthly MVP Award” for March and April on the 13th. It is his third time winning the honor, following his previous award in September-October 2023. “I think I was well prepared, and I had great support from many people, so I owe it to them,” Sato reflected. In the pitcher category, Yohito Takahashi (30) was also selected, giving the Hanshin team a double award.
During the month, Sato appeared in 27 games, recording 38 hits in 101 at-bats for a batting average of .376, along with 7 home runs and 25 RBIs. He posted an on-base percentage of .444 and a slugging percentage of .743, dominating the stats. He twice recorded four hits in a single game, and at one point maintained a batting average above .400. “As for the average, there were some lucky hits, but I’m glad I was able to produce solid contact and see results,” he said. Last season, Sato won the Central League home run and RBI double crown and was named league MVP. Now, he has started the new season with a strong opening. Looking ahead, he said, “I couldn’t win a monthly MVP even once last year, so I’m happy to get one this time. From now on, I want to keep working hard so I can win it many more times.”
