Former Bundesliga Star Boujellab Signs for Jahn Regensburg – His Third Club in the 3. Liga

Posted on: 05/12/2026

After a season with TSV Havelse, former Bundesliga player Nassim Boujellab remains in the 3. Liga and has joined SSV Jahn Regensburg. The club from Bavaria announced the free transfer of the 26-year-old attacking midfielder on Monday. Boujellab, who previously played for Schalke 04, was only tied to relegated Havelse for the current season. His contract with Regensburg will run from the summer until June 2028.

“Nassim is a smart, creative, and technically gifted attacking midfielder who also works hard off the ball,” said Jahn’s sporting director Alexander Schmalhofer. “He has gained valuable experience throughout his career, and especially this season he has caught attention with strong performances. We are very pleased to have secured him and that he will bring his qualities to Regensburg.”

Boujellab came through Schalke’s youth system and made 30 Bundesliga appearances for the club. After Schalke’s relegation in 2021, he went on loan to second-tier FC Ingolstadt, where he only made eight brief appearances before leaving early for another loan, this time to HJK Helsinki in Finland. He returned to Helsinki in the summer of 2022 for the remainder of the Veikkausliiga season, winning the league title in September. He never played for Schalke again, joining Arminia Bielefeld in the 3. Liga in the summer of 2023. After an injury-plagued second season with Bielefeld, he moved to Havelse.

Boujellab is Regensburg’s first confirmed addition for the next campaign. “I’m really happy to have signed here in Regensburg and I’m looking forward to the new season,” he said in a club statement. “I want to contribute to the team with my abilities and experience. Personally, I aim to reach my full potential and take the next steps.” The club, a recent relegation from the 2. Bundesliga, secured their survival in the 3. Liga early in a mixed season and will finish in mid-table. On the final matchday, they face promotion hopefuls Energie Cottbus.
