During the third league speedway round in Gniezno, Poland, an 18-year-old rider named Patryk Budniak was involved in a severe crash and subsequently taken to the hospital, as reported by PolstatSport. The incident occurred during the 12th heat of the Sunday meeting. On the second turn, Budniak’s motorcycle tangled with an opponent’s rider. After the collision, the Polish athlete was thrown over the protective barrier, crashed into the netting shielding the guest fans’ section, and then fell onto a former parking area. His motorcycle continued flying for several dozen meters after the crash.
A medical helicopter was called to the scene and transported Budniak to the hospital. Following the accident, officials decided to prematurely end the competition.
